Kookas (Ages 3-5)

Kookas is a fun introduction to football skills through play-based activities. This program is suitable for girls and boys who have turned 3 and are up to the age of 5 in 2024. The Kookas program is held on Saturday mornings and will commence on 27 Apr 24. The Kookas information page can be found here.

MiniRoos (U6-U7)

Girls in these age groups play in mixed teams with boys. The all-girls leagues don’t start until U8s. Our U6 and U7 teams play in a local competition with Samford, Dayboro and Westside. Teams are formed based on friendship groups and play on Saturday mornings. Training is once per week on Wednesdays 5pm-6pm. Further information can be found here.

MiniRoos (U8-U11) & U12s

The all-girls leagues commence at U8s. For the 2023 season, PHFC was able to field an all-girls team in every age group. Due to our very successful female pathway and programs, and the interest generated by the Womens World Cup, we are expecting an increase in participation in 2024.

U8-U9 teams will be formed based on friendship groups, whilst U10-U12 teams will be formed based on ability (refer to the grading/trials information below).

Juniors (U13-U17)

Competitive football commences at U13. It is still 9v9 on a smaller field but the offside rule now comes into play. U14 is the start of 11v11 on a full-size field.

Based on our 2023 teams, and the increased interest in joining our female program, we anticipate having the following teams for 2024:

  • U13 – 2 teams
  • U14 – 1 team
  • U15 – 1 team
  • U17 – 1 team

Training

Training is once per week for U6-U9 (Tuesdays) and twice per week for U10-U17 (Tuesdays & Thursdays). Training days, times and locations are as per the maps at the bottom of this page. Apart from the holiday clinics, there is generally no training over school holidays, unless agreed upon between the coach and team.

  • Please view our training schedule here.

Competition dates

As per the 2024 Football Qld Season Calendar, competition dates are as follows:

  • MiniRoos & U12s – first round 20 Apr, last round 07 Sep. Games are played on Saturdays.
  • U13 – 4 x grading games over last two weekends in February (2 games per weekend). First round 09/10 Mar, last round 31 Aug/01 Sep. Semi-final 07/08 Sep, grand final 14/15 Sep. Games are predominately on Sundays with the odd Saturday.
  • U14-U17 – first round 09/10 Mar, last round 31 Aug/01 Sep. Semi-final 07/08 Sep, grand final 14/15 Sep. Games are predominately on Sundays with the odd Saturday and possibly even a Friday night.

Female Development Program

Our female pathways and programs has been a huge success since its launch in Term 4 2022. We aim to further enhance this program for 2024. The program is designed to develop and support all young female players in achieving a wide range of football goals throughout their journey from MiniRoos to Senior Women. Further information can be found here.

Term 1 development opportunities, in addition to team training, is currently being discussed by the Female Technical Development Team.

Goalkeeper Development

Pine Hills FC provides goalkeeper development from U8-U17. Experienced coaches are used to organise and deliver these sessions. Players are grouped according to age groups and then skill level where needed. During this program, we develop the basic goalkeeper skills, including the various handling/catching and diving techniques. We also look to improve the player’s footwork and agility.

Through these programs we hope to make the football experience of the young player that much more enjoyable and give them a love for the great game of football.

Please speak to your child's coach for more information on goalkeeer training.

Parents – how can you help the club, your child and their team?

As we are a community club, we would love your help to give all of our young players a great experience playing this wonderful sport. It also adds to the experience of our kids to see adults involved and helping out. Once teams are formed, we will be calling for parents to assist in the following ways….

Team Coaches. Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are appointed once the teams have been formed. In most circumstances, coaches are parent volunteers usually of a player in the team. We do attempt to have a head coach, who is not the parent of a player in the team, for any Select/First teams but this is not always possible.

The PHFC Technical Development team plan coaching sessions and provide resources to ensure consistency of sessions and support for all of our volunteer coaches. Extra parent helpers are invited to assist coaches in the implementation of sessions where required.

Formal coaching courses and education sessions are made available to coaches by PHFC. All parents are invited to volunteer their interest to coach, support or manage a team, so that teams can be equipped with great support for the season ahead. Many hands make light work!

All allocated team coaches will be required to obtain a volunteer ‘Working with Children’ blue card.

Team Manager. Managers are appointed once the teams have been formed. The manager will be a parent of a player in the team. The assistant coach can also dual-hat as the manager but we do not recommend the head coach take on this role.

The manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the team remains informed and organised throughout the season. Two critical skills managers require are 1. great organisational and 2. communication skills.

The manager role for U8-U12 teams is quite straight forward with the main responsibility being team communication with the parent group through a social media platform of choice. As U13s and above are competitive leagues, the manager will also have additional responsibilities with team management in Squadi and pre and post-game day responsibilities with electronic team sheets and game results.

All allocated mangers will be required to obtain a volunteer ‘Working with Children’ blue card.

If you are interested in taking on a coaching or manager role for the 2024 season, please reach out to the Head of Female Football at femalefootball@pinehillsfootball.com
